Saturday action

Today was my day off. My tentmate Jeff had told me that the canopy tour staff was short-handed, so my other tentmate Robert and I gave up our morning to help them harness and unharness the scouts.  We serviced around five hundred in Two and a half hours. The professional said they normally are lucky to run one hundred and fifty in a day!  There was no scout that was turned away today. I'm glad I helped.
I met up with John and the troop at the stadium show around 2pm.  Mike Rowe of dirty jobs and deadliest catch fame was the keynote speaker. He was very inspirational being an Eagle Scout himself. Work Hard AND Smart was his topic.  He named the  scouts his dirt patrol.  See his speech here  Three doors down was the musical entertainment.  I recognized two of the six songs they played   Went back to have dinner with my local troop. Crossing the Consol Energy suspension bridge with a couple hundred boys at once was exciting. The bridge swayed from side to side. Must have been as much as six feet in the middle. It felt as though I was walking while inebriated almost to the point of falling down.  Then while we ate frozen sandwiches for dinner a severe thunder/rain/wind storm tore through the camp. We sent the scouts to their tents as the lightening was so close. It was funny watching  the boys slip and slide through the mud to get to their tents as quick as they could. We survived, a little wet but fine.
